July 2006: Friday Club – Messing about in boats

Avid readers of HMSOldies will no doubt recall that last year TG Smith gracefully fell into the river during the Friday Club's annual trip on the Norfolk Broads. This year was a huge disappointment as, despite copious amounts of alcohol, no one disappeared overboard. However, the captain on the return journey, CH Hughes, dealt the river-bank several severe blows whilst attempting to steer round a bend in the river. In the following melee the ship's fender was severed from the boat but after frantic efforts the highly skilled crew managed to retrieve it. The pictures show GTR Jones in becoming pink rainwear and PJ Bradbury assisting TG Smith aboard our splendid gin palace.
